Whatever happened to CPAN6?

CPAN6 looks like a project that suffered from BDUF and never actually going anywhere. I think a lot of the reason for this is that people scream as soon as they see the XML Schema.

For the record, there were some things that Mark and I disagreed on - the first was how to handle the file distribution and managing incremental versions of packages. The second was the specification of the metadata in XML Schema.
